We live in a beautiful city with many benefits. Unfortunately, it can also be subject to crime and littler. Help us be safer and cleaner with education, technology, cameras, lights, Neighborhood Watch, working with police, litter cleanup and more. This committee is a conduit for non-emergency criminal situations.
Chairs: Marie Fitzgerald, Giles Whiting
The Union Pier is only a few blocks from The Garden District and its redevelopment will greatly impact us with density, traffic, and noise. The 70-acre waterfront site, between Market & Laurens Streets, is being considered as a port-of-call, and includes retail, event spaces, and park areas. This committee represents The Garden District’s needs and desires in this monumental project.
Chair: David Gross
With hundreds of homes and businesses in The Garden District, there's a lot going on and a lot to do. The four elected board members cannot do it all, so committee volunteers are the lifeblood of our community. We all want decent (and better) neighborhood conditions. The goal is livability - preserving our historic neighborhood, while maintaining residents' comfort, and respecting the changes of a thriving downtown Charleston.
Only active members may serve on a committee. The committees chairs report to the board. All committee chairs can be reached at info@charlestongardendistrict.org.
